Energy Star:
What Does Energy Star Do For You (presentation will load ater a minute or so).
We are proud to offer new homes that have earned the ENERGY STAR® label. ENERGY STAR® qualified homes are at least 15% more energy efficient than homes built to the 2004 International Residential Code (IRC). Even in states with more rigorous energy codes, the U.S. EPA ensures that ENERGY STAR remains the symbol for truly energy-efficient performance. Our ENERGY STAR qualified new homes are independently verified by a third party home energy rater to ensure they meet ENERGY STAR energy efficiency guidelines. These homes are better for the environment and better for you. The Certification gives you an estimate of how much you could save annually over a basic code built house. However, just like miles per gallon when driving a car, how you operate your home will effect it’s efficiency and cost effectiveness. Be a good steward of our resources and your wallet!
Benefits of owning one of our ENERGY STAR® homes is a label backed by the Federal Government, Department of Energy - All ENERGY STAR qualified new homes are certified to meet EPA’s strict guidelines for energy efficiency. This exemplary performance is verified by an independent third party.
Lower Utility Costs - Compared with standard homes, ENERGY STAR qualified new homes use substantially less energy for heating, cooling, and hot water heating. Homeowners can expect to save about $200-$900 annually on their utility bills.
More Comfortable/Quieter Homes - The energy-efficient features of ENERGY STAR qualified new homes keep out excessive heat, cold, and noise, and ensure consistent temperatures between and across rooms—making these homes more comfortable to live in.
Helping to Create a Better Future - By purchasing an ENERGY STAR qualified new home, you are joining millions of consumers who have changed to ENERGY STAR, helping our nation reduce our energy needs and building a cleaner environment for the future.
Scott Homes, Ltd., has been building to Build Green Colorado and E-Star requirement since 2003.This commitment to providing more energy efficient and comfortable homes has had a direct positive impact on the local environment. Beginning in 2007 we made the commitment to construct our homes to the Energy Star Standards. Unless a homeowner specifically requests otherwise we will specify and build to Build Green Colorado and Energy Star standards. Not all homes are third party certified Green or Energy Efficient. As a Nationally Certified Green Professional we can deliver a Certified Green Home.
Features of our ENERGY STAR® qualified new homes include:Increased Insulation - Improved and effective use of insulation helps achieve even temperatures throughout the house while using less energy. The result is lower utility costs and a quieter, more comfortable home. This stage is site verified by a third party Energy Rater to ensure that the insulation and thermal by-pass envelope is fully compliant.
High-performance Windows - High-performance windows help keep heat in during winter and out during summer. They also block damaging ultraviolet sunlight that can discolor carpets and furniture. Low-E glass and other Solar Heat Gain Coefficient glass can provide the performance you demand. Different windows can and should have different performance based upon their location and orientation. A third party Energy Rater verifies the performance of the windows installed.
Tight Construction and Tight Ducts - Tight ducts and tight construction help eliminate drafts, moisture, dust, pests, and pollen. This improves comfort and the quality of indoor air, while lowering maintenance costs. Ducts within the thermal envelope can have some leakage. However, ducts outside the thermal envelope should be completely sealed and insulated. We strive to design our heating systems so no ductwork in installed outside the thermal envelope. A third party Energy Rater verifies ductwork location and insulation at frame stage.
Energy-efficient Heating and Cooling Equipment - More efficient and properly installed heating and cooling systems use less energy, which reduces utility bills. These systems also turn on and off less frequently, removing more humidity and providing better comfort. A third party Energy Rater verifies the efficiencies of these appliances.
Energy Efficient Water Heating - Higher efficient direct vent water heaters with no pilot light save energy and produce hot water faster. On demand water heaters can provide and unlimited supply of hot water without the cost of maintaining 50 gallon of hot water on hand all the time. Talk to us about the benefits of each system. A third party Energy Rater verifies the efficiencies of these appliances.
